Info

I must apologize for the lack of activity on this blog but on Saturday evening I’ve lost my dear grandmother Maria. With her passing away my last remaining grandparent, one of my favorite human beings, has left this world and the weight of never getting to see her again has hit me really hard. She’s the best memories of my childhood and I’m really so grateful that I got raised and loved by her. My giagia was the most honest, sweet and kind woman ever. Not to mention her amazing cooking skills, thing that I unfortunately haven’t inherited but that’s another story. Her official cause of death was a heart attack, but I say she died of a broken heart. She has lost her child, my uncle Vasili 12 years ago, think that she did never overcome. So I know she’s feeling a lot better now in heaven and that makes her loss somehow easier for me. These photos (waiting patiently to get posted from Saturday) with the memories from my last day in Munich, yes I’ve returned, are actually a reminder, the first step to move on, that in life there are also good, wonderful little times, worth sharing with all you love. And you’re still with me… In good times and in bad…

    Evangelie-
I am so sorry to hear of your loss of your grandmother. I, too, have a grandmother whom I adore and whom I fear losing. May your memories of your beautiful times together stay with you and continue to inspire you. And may you feel her presence despite her apparent absence. Hugs to you.
    XO,
    Ali

I’m sorry about your loss Evangelie, my thoughts are with you. I lost my last remaining grandparents last year and I still get tearful to this day when I think of that sad time. As you said though we should be grateful to have had them in our lives. I hope your sadness lessens soon, sending you much love. Joanna xxxxx

I’m so sorry for your loss – there is nothing quite like the totally unconditional love from a grandparent. I lost my last grandparent some years ago and now as I watch my children’s relationships with their ‘grannie’ I feel so lucky that they are able to have such a cool and loving time with such knowledgable and inspiring folk!
Keep happy and love your blog x

    Ευαγγελία μου,
Τι να πω…

I am so sorry for your loss, dear.
My grandma passed away last thursday and I still can’t believe we’ll have to live in a world without her. She was also excellent cook and major fashionist… I can’t cook like her, but sure I inherited her passion for beautiful things.

I just came Beck from my holidays catching up with your posts and the first thing that comes to my mind right now is that also my grandmother Potitsa suffered the same way as yours since she had losther first born son, Yanni, 12 years before she died, but that’s already many years ago, her death I mean. I was named after her and I even look like her and of course I still miss her and all her character aspects in my life! My other grand mom, Eleni, is actually the one who was there while I was growing up, cooking heavenly and getting out of her way all the time just to make me happy! How can we forget those saint of creatures? Let’s just try to be like them as much as we can, even if it is for us having to learn how to cook better, right? ;)
My condolences to you and yours, Ev! I feel for you!
    Lots of love,
    Naja
